Alan’s GPS got us to an incredible restaurant in the middle of nowhere, and his tips about the region, restaurants, and things to do were great. He’s a local to Auvergne and knows its history, too. Before dinner, we also got a champagne happy hour, and Monique packed up half the superb hazelnut gateau for us to take along at breakfast. We stayed at four chambre d’hôtes on our trip through France, and this was by far the best. I can’t think of a single downside to the place, the breakfast, or the owners.

The owners are such gracious, sweet people, and I’d recommend a stay here to anyone. My wife and her family stayed before and after our wedding, then she moved in with me. My family has lived about fifteen minutes away for nearly two centuries, but it wasn’t until we got married that my wife and I got to enjoy spending time here.

The estate is so quiet and relaxing, and breakfast was excellent, with plenty of local products to choose from. We had a fabulous two-night stay at Domaine de Gaudon. The lovely décor makes the magnificent accommodation feel like stepping into another era. Alain and Monique were kind and so attentive, and we really enjoyed our long chats with them. We had such a lovely time together. Monique and Alain are kind, down-to-earth people with big hearts, just how I like them. They pay attention to what their guests need and gave us great tips for finding good restaurants. It’s a magical, exotic place. See you very soon, perhaps in the south. Best wishes to you both.

It’s a peaceful, magical place and a great spot to stay. Pets are welcome and clearly appreciated, too. Alain and Monique gave us a warm welcome, and we loved how kind, friendly, and generous they were.
