Auberge Normande

The room was quirky and comfortable, though don't come expecting luxury. For the price, it made a great stopover. The restaurant was a real surprise: we ate outside and had a high quality, reasonably priced meal. We paid around £70 for three courses, drinks, and a bottle of regional wine. I'd happily stay again and recommend it.

The building and location are lovely, and dinner was excellent, though the room felt small for the price. The outdoor tables and surrounding area could use some care. A 25cl beer was 3.90 Euros!!! Check out was rude and frustrating. I was blamed for not having the right change and for not paying the night before, when they could have given change then. At check in we were asked what time we wanted breakfast, but later at dinner we were told breakfast would be later. We had to leave, so I asked them to remove breakfast from the bill. They said breakfast was available, but by then they had been so rude that we just wanted to go.

It's a quirky, traditional old French place. We stayed here once before on a Monday, when the restaurant was closed, and got a different room this time. It was lilac themed again, with shabby chic furniture. The funny thing was the light fixed to the headboard: it only worked when you were sitting or lying on the bed!

A lovely little Auberge, clean and simple, with good food. It has more character and is quieter than the familiar roadside places for an overnight stop. The toilet is down the corridor, but there's a shower in the room.
