The castle tour with its really friendly guide was a special highlight, and breakfast had plenty of variety. Our room was big and beautiful, with great bedding and a roomy bathroom full of thoughtful little details. Even the creaky doors added to its authentic charm.

The owners' work to research and preserve the castle deserves recognition. Touring inside and out, we saw so many lovely things that have been kept as they were, and the place feels historic and almost magical. We booked the night for our castle-loving son's 9th birthday, and the whole family had a great time. The host welcomed us warmly, and our spacious, carefully decorated room made it feel like we'd stepped into the 15th century.

Sleeping within 800-year-old walls without paying a fortune is a rare chance. The owner was charming, and the food was just incredible. Best guinea fowl I've ever had, plus a dreamy pear and bacon tart, with this hard-to-describe, really refined touch. Sensational French food, even better than Italian cuisine! No Wi-Fi or heating, but in early September that was fine. 6 out of 5 stars!!!!!!!

The castle tour was informative and very well done. We were only there for one night, but came away with lovely memories of a place that feels untouched by time.

We stumbled on this place by chance through a gift box while returning from vacation, and it turned into a wonderful discovery and a real change of scenery. The welcome was warm and the service impeccable. We also tried Fourme de Montbrison, a treat for anyone who loves cheese ;)
