The room and the chateau were spotless, and the decor felt just right for a place like this, with modern plumbing that made everything comfortable. I was blown away by the view from my window the next morning. Getting there from Limoges airport was easy, and even though I arrived late at night, I was greeted so warmly. Breakfast had far more choice than a usual continental spread, so I passed on the eggs. I enjoyed my first evening meal enough to book another. I can’t wait to come back.

Lorraine and Ben remembered us from our one-night stay the year before, which was lovely. We’d found the place by chance then, without a booking, and were glad dinner was available. It was so good that we decided to return, and this time we booked ahead. Dinner outdoors was delicious, with countryside views that made the evening feel like heaven on earth. Breakfast was excellent again. We had another magical stay.

We had aperitifs in the pleasant gardens, looking out over a lovely rural view, then enjoyed an excellent three-course dinner with wine at very reasonable prices. The owner and her son were welcoming and efficient, and our spacious, comfortable room was well furnished, with a lovely shower. The setting has far-reaching views, and breakfast was good value and a feast for the eyes. A great find, well worth a detour or a stop on the way south.

Lorraine and her family have done a fabulous job redecorating this 15th-century chateau. It’s a beautiful place for a vacation, about 30 minutes from Limoges, a city known for centuries of fine china production. One of the finest chambre d’hotes south of Paris.
