The hotel feels scenic and intimate, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for that kind of stay in Champagne. A big extra is the link to Champagne Bonnet Ponson, a family-run winery dating back to 1862. You can see the caves, bottles aging, barrels, tanks and press, and meet the cellar team led by Cyril Bonnet, an eighth-generation winemaker. Even though I visited during harvest, everything was looked after with care. Staff and guests followed excellent health and safety precautions, and I felt completely cared for, right at home. This was my second stay at Dans Les Vignes in the village of Chamrey. I’m hoping to return as soon as I can.

We watched the sun set over the vineyards from our balcony. The room was modern, clean and very comfortable. There was no air-conditioning, but up in the hills we didn’t need it, and indoor parking was available. There aren’t other restaurants nearby, so the dinner menu here was adequate. Breakfast was fine too. They make their own ecological champagne locally, and the non-dosage rosé was great.

After a long drive, the owners did everything they could for me. My French is practically nonexistent, which I’m embarrassed about, though I do try. They made me a fantastic meal, and the room was exceptional. The village is gorgeous and really relaxing, with vineyards all around. Thank you to the owners. Please stay here!

Getting there from the train can be difficult, so ask them to arrange transport or rent a car ahead of time. Once there, I really enjoyed my stay. The location and view are stunning, and the rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly, helpful and speak English. Highly recommended.

They make their own champagne, and we got to try some. It was delicious! The staff were friendly, the rooms clean, and the views over the vines were lovely. There’s also a big garage where you can park indoors overnight.
