The balcony looked out over Mont Blanc, and the bed was very comfortable. The room felt a little small, and noise from the bars across the road carried in. The hotel’s location is ideal, right in the town center and close to the slopes. Breakfast was good, with a nice buffet, an egg station, and delicious pastries. Renting ski equipment at the shop was convenient, though not cheap.

We had a wonderful time at Alpina Eclectic Hotel in Chamonix. Being right downtown made it easy to walk to all the great sights, and we really enjoyed the restaurant food and bar drinks. There’s no AC in the rooms, but they provided Dyson fans to make things more comfortable. We’d definitely recommend staying here on your next trip.

For what it costs, I expected a more welcoming staff and a room in better shape. The staff were never rude, but they didn’t seem especially interested, either. Our room wasn’t cleaned by 4 pm, so we had to ask for fresh towels. The parking area is tight, with a steep ramp down to it. The balcony view and location were great. Inside, though, the room felt dark and oddly decorated. Maybe that’s just a ski town thing, but it struck me as strange. The in-room basics were sparse: no toiletries, supposedly to “save the planet,” though it felt more like a way to save money. There wasn’t bottled water, and the tap water was lukewarm. We had to take a bottle into the hallway to fill it.

The spa had lovely views, and the hotel was quiet at night. We enjoyed breakfast, and the staff were helpful. Our standard room was small, but it had a nice view and a large, very comfortable bed. It got really warm in there, even with the window open and the fan running. There’s no A/C, and the duvet was very heavy. We parked in a nearby public lot, which cost 20€ for 18 hours.

The friendly, polite staff were a big part of why we loved our stay with two friends this week. The room was spotlessly clean, looked lovely, and had amazing views. We’d booked a superior family room and hadn’t expected the extra private room and lounge, so finding those was a great surprise. There was both a bath and a shower in the bathroom. The hotel met our expectations and then some. I’d happily stay again.
