Alpine Escape w/ Pool & Views

The pool was enjoyable, but we were disappointed that the steam room and sauna cost extra. The pictures led us to expect a Jacuzzi there too, but there wasn’t one. We were told towels were included, then found a towel charge on the bill. We also had dirty towels and were told they aren’t a hotel, so more towels would cost extra, as would toilet paper. At checkout we were charged for recycling, although we’d taken out our rubbish ourselves and couldn’t see bins on the property. The apartment was filthy when we arrived: old socks under the sofa, rubbish behind the beds, and a disgusting floor. It didn’t feel like somewhere we could relax. At night, loud sounds from inside the walls, perhaps pipes, woke the person sleeping in the living room on several nights. They didn’t sound like other guests. I’m used to cleaning before leaving, but they asked us to do a lot and had fines in place. I wouldn’t be surprised if rooms weren’t cleaned properly between visitors. The deposits and extra charges made the place feel like a rip off. None of us would return, and I’d strongly recommend avoiding it if you’re visiting the Chamonix area.

The pool wasn’t heated, and the water was cold and unpleasant. At checkout, they charged us tourist tax and for 8 croissants we’d taken during the week. There was no apology or goodwill gesture. We spent a week at the hotel over New Year’s Eve, and cash was stolen from our room while we were out. We’d left the room key at reception, which made the incident even more serious. The director didn’t apologize and simply told us to go to the police and file a report. Instead of offering support, they said we should have used the safe, as if someone getting into a room at a residence like this were normal. The management showed no concern or responsibility. The service was indecent and completely unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The staff were amazing throughout our ski week based at Odalys. We spoke with or got help from probably five different staff members, and every one was friendly, positive, and professional. The facilities were great, though I’d be wary of rooms right by the road. Our apartment was cosy and had everything we needed. Cleaning was straightforward, nothing to worry about. My daughter and I loved spending hours in the pool after skiing.

This was very distressing, and while we can’t establish what happened, we recommend guests take standard care with valuables. We filed an official police report and notified the relevant authorities. We stayed over New Year, from 29 December to 1 January. After checkout, we found that cash we’d stored in the password protected in room safe was missing. We saw no visible signs of tampering. We reported it to the hotel immediately. Later, they told us the money couldn’t be located and there was no CCTV coverage on the floor where our room was, so we couldn’t determine how it happened.
