Chalet Hotel Le Whymper

The top-floor room was clean, neat, and a good standard for a one-night stay. The staff were very nice and communicated really well in English. The hotel is centrally located, with a parking garage nearby, which was handy. Breakfast had a nice selection and atmosphere, and on a pleasant day you can sit out on the terrace.

The games in the salon were a nice way to take a break during the day, and we played twice. The location is great for walking around, eating, and shopping, and the included breakfast was okay, though I’d skip the eggs. Our third-floor room was tight for four people and VERY HOT. Even with the windows open, we were miserable. There’s no elevator, as the website notes. We used the sauna, which was nice, but allow 30 minutes for it to heat up. I added a celebration package with balloons, macaroons, and prosecco. It was a nice extra in principle, but we got a dry chocolate cake instead of macaroons and ate only about a quarter of it. The ice for the prosecco had melted, so it wasn’t very cold when we checked in. If you’re on a budget and don’t mind the summer heat, the place is fine. For a family with kids, I wish we’d booked somewhere else.

The communal living room was a useful and comfortable place to spend time, and breakfast was very nice. The location is excellent, and the staff were brilliant. The room was clean and tidy, if a little small, which I expected in a ski resort town. I’d definitely stay here again.

Breakfast was poor. At 8:30 am I got the last croissant, and they didn’t bring out more even though new hotel guests were arriving in the breakfast room. I also paid an extra 10€ to check in 1.5 hours early. The bathroom had a shower curtain, which kills the whole mood of the room for me.
