Hôtel des Lacs

We had a lovely view from the room, and it was warm and comfortable. The staff were nice, too. It’s about a 20-minute walk to the heart of Chamonix, and I’d recommend it for a short weekend stay.

The sunrise through the window was great. The place is very affordable and right by a bus stop, though the room was tiny and didn’t have many amenities.

The people running the hotel were lovely, friendly, and helpful. It feels like a family operation, and the area itself is quiet. There’s a bar and restaurant in the hotel next door, which is handy if you don’t feel like walking into town. Our room was small but worked perfectly well for us. The bed was comfortable, the heating was easy to adjust, and the shower was decent. We could even see Mont Blanc from bed, a lovely sight to wake up to. Breakfast was simple but adequate. It’s a pleasant hotel a short walk from Chamonix town centre, right on the bus route to the main ski areas. Hot water for tea or coffee in the room would have been nice, but it wasn’t a deal breaker.

The staff were kind and spoke both French and English. They were happy to offer advice about things to do in the area. It’s a nice family-run hotel on the outskirts of Chamonix, about a 10-minute walk from the town centre. The room isn’t luxurious, but it has what you need.
