La Cremerie du Glacier

The location really is fantastic, but don't count on hotel service here. Our room wasn't made up each day, meal arrangements weren't flexible, and at meals we had to use the same plates for different courses. Since everything is so old, it can be hard to tell what's clean. If an old-fashioned auberge without modern facilities is what you're after, this may suit you. Otherwise, you could be disappointed.

We rented a chalet for two days, so I can't comment on the hotel, which actually looked nice. The chalet itself smelled musty and felt quite run down. The kitchen and toilet looked old and didn't seem clean, and two people in our family woke up with what looked like flea bites. The outdoor area was an uneven, neglected field with plastic furniture, unlike the pictures on the website. A bulldozer was digging behind us on the first day, which didn't help. For what we got, it was very overpriced. I think the place has potential, though. Modernising the chalet and the outside area could make it a nice place to stay.

They call it a four-star hotel, but the service felt like two-star. During my three-day stay, nobody cleaned the room. Breakfast was poor, with no real choice, and the dishes were always dirty. It was VERY EXPENSIVE, and the rooms pictured on the website don't exist. It feels like a scam. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The food and setting were a good experience: the pizzas are genuinely excellent, the decor is nice, and service stays efficient even when it's crowded. Some desserts are homemade and really good too. You'll spot the regular spelling mistakes on the suggestion boards as well, which is more funny than serious. Prices are another matter. Some pizzas are outrageous, and watch what some of the wines cost. Parking in this very central area is basically impossible, so even with luck you'll have at least a five-minute walk. Not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
