La Savoyarde

Really good value for the price, with large, nice rooms and a good breakfast. There's not much else offered at the hotel, but the location is great for skiing or hiking, just a minute from the Brevent gondola.

The room was spacious and pleasant, and the hotel is very quiet. I loved the terrace overlooking the garden, along with the views of Mont Blanc and the Aiguille du Midi. The breakfast buffet was quite good, too. My one complaint is the very 70s-style bathroom, which doesn't fit the mountain chalet feel of the room. A good place to stay in the hills above Chamonix, and I'd recommend it.

We wouldn't recommend staying here. The room itself was fine, but the bathroom was run-down and both lightbulbs were out, one from when we arrived and the other along the way. The staff couldn't sort them out and had trouble understanding us. There were two Italian staff members, one who didn't speak French and another who spoke very little. They emailed the owner about repairs and said they'd see when they could fix things. They also said preparing the bill wasn't their responsibility. We emailed the owner and heard back 24 hours later; after a few minutes of explaining, we managed to understand each other. The hotel's website seems very out of date: it lists 14 rooms and a restaurant, but there are only 7 rooms now and no restaurant.

Everything was just right, and the hosts were very friendly. I'd highly recommend this place.
