Lykke Hotel & Spa Chamonix

The spa is really nice, though the outdoor jacuzzi could be a little warmer. Breakfast was perfectly fine, with fresh food. In the room, there’s nowhere to hang anything, and there’s no sink in the toilet room, so you have to go to the shower room to wash your hands. The rooms themselves are okay. The door is the main annoyance: it sounds like it’s made of paper, and could really use fixing.

The underground ski hire shop and secure kit storage were really handy, and after tough days on the slopes, the spa was a welcome extra. The bar and restaurant area are great, and we were warmly welcomed with an easy check-in. Lykke Hotel & Spa Chamonix is right in the heart of Chamonix. Breakfast was good, though getting around it felt a bit difficult when the room was busy. Our room was awkwardly laid out, with too little clothing storage. More hanging space and a few drawers would help. It’s a good base for skiing, but expect about a 20-minute walk carrying equipment to the nearest slopes or a bus stop.

We were there for a week from 28th December, six of us sharing two rooms. Both were clean and very well equipped, with fantastic mountain views. The included breakfast was always welcome, well cooked and well stocked, and the staff were really helpful. The ski lockers were clean and dry. It’s right by the train station and only a few minutes on foot from the town centre. We’d certainly recommend it.

The check-out left a sour note. We were charged €66 for a breakfast we hadn’t had. The charge was eventually taken off, but at first we didn’t feel listened to or believed, which was uncomfortable and unnecessary. That wasn’t the level of service we’d expected after such a good stay. The hotel was clean, tidy and comfortable, the view was beautiful, and we loved spending time in the well presented, relaxing spa. We had a great time apart from the billing issue and would still recommend the hotel.
