Résidence ATC Routes du Monde Chamonix

The location was the best part for me: a short walk from the railway station to Chamonix, with several trails going past the hotel. The free train and bus pass also covered trips between Argentiere and nearby towns, so it was a decent deal compared with many places in the area. When I visited in July 2022, it felt like I might have been the only guest. My room was okay, though a bit shabby and dirty. I'm quite sensitive about cleanliness, but it didn't bother me too much. Breakfast was odd and inconsistent, sometimes a small buffet, other times a basket with bread, croissants, and marmalade.

For the cheapest place I could find in Chamonix, I was surprised to get a clean room with decent space. The staff were friendly and spoke English. From the room, the view was either Mont blanc or, as in my case, some trees with a mountain behind them. There's a train station right next to the hotel and a bus stop very close by. Guests get a card for both the train and bus through the end of their stay. Plenty of places to eat and three supermarkets are nearby.

Reception was friendly and very helpful. Great service, and the location is excellent.

The hotel itself was decent, and the welcome was fine when our group came for a weekend at the ATC Argentière in Chamonix. The group service, though, left us disappointed. Our contract was for 35 people with one place free. One person got sick before we left and wasn't sure it was sensible to come, but eventually made the effort. We were still charged for them as an extra person, so we lost the free place in the agreement. We also had to pay for packed lunches two weeks ahead, with no option to change the order, which is awkward when organizing a group. The hotel was fine, but the lack of flexibility left us with mixed feelings.
