Vert Lodge Chamonix

The location was great, close to the bus station and facing beautiful Mont Blanc scenery. Check-in and check-out were self-service, smooth and convenient. At Vert Lodge - Rooms, Bar & Restaurant, we had a pleasant stay and received excellent hospitality. Our room was clean and comfortable. I liked the air freshener in the bathroom, which kept the room feeling fresh and well maintained. Breakfast was self-service, with a nice variety, and very good. A very enjoyable place to stay in Chamonix, I’d recommend it.

The rooms are cosy pods, not just dorm beds, and there are several common areas plus bathrooms you can use during the day. Everyone was super nice, and I’d definitely stay again. They also have a free luggage room before check-in and for the day after check-out, and the free breakfast options were solid. It’s about a 20-minute walk from Chamonix centre. There are great views along the way, and a pedestrian path beside the road, so the walk goes by quickly.

We booked at the last minute after our other accommodation told us they had bedbugs, which is obviously a common problem in Europe. The building is 150 years old, so I don’t know what people expect. Some complaints seem to be about the building itself. The location worked well. The bus goes right past the door, and the train station is about a 5 - 10 minute walk away. Breakfast was basic but good, help yourself, and there was plenty. The room was fine, and we ate at the restaurant nearly every night, good value too. Staff were helpful, and self check-in worked fine. It’s a perfectly good place if you’re not one of those moaners wanting to pay bottom dollar and get 5 star service. I’d happily stay again.

I was charged 64 euros for chicken pieces with onion rings and 3 drinks xD. They said something on the list that I hadn’t ordered had been subtracted, but I did the maths afterward and apparently paid for a main and a beer I didn’t have. Great maths, people.
