Hôtel Le Bois Dormant

After driving across the Alps, this was a great place to stop. It feels like you're sleeping in the forest, and the rooms are so quiet. Everything was spotless, and the beds were really comfortable. I haven't slept that well in ages.

We went for my birthday dinner yesterday, and the setting was nice. The service started off well, but we had to leave early because my nanny was having issues with my baby. We'd ordered two full menus and a bottle, but only got the main courses, and they wouldn't pack up the rest. They said I should have warned them beforehand. I don't find that acceptable, especially given French legislation about avoiding food waste. They still charged us for the full bill, as if we'd eaten everything. A really bad experience.

It's a quiet spot in a large park, with clean rooms and a nice menu. Breakfast was 15 euros, though, and there wasn't much choice. Even though breakfast ran until 10, a lot of the food, especially the meat and most of the pastries, was gone by 9. Nothing was replenished, even after we asked.

The family room was fantastic, with a mezzanine for the kids that had three single beds, its own bathroom and a TV. The hotel is in a nice timber-beamed building and has a swimming pool. There are no changing facilities by the pool, so you have to change in your room. The restaurant looked good but seemed quite expensive, especially for children who probably wouldn't have appreciated it. We went to a local pizza place instead and picked up breakfast at the supermarket around the corner.
