The mountain scenery around Villages Bachat is beautiful, and there's a lot of lovely nature. A few bars, a restaurant, and shops for convenience and sports gear are within walking distance. There's also a free bus around the area. We were in one of the more distant houses, about a 15-minute walk from the slope, though there are quite a few houses around. Ski lockers are in the building, separate from the apartment. We booked a six-person room for a week in January. The apartments are very small and not especially practical for six: two people had to share a sofa meant for about one and a half, and some beds were squeezed in so the doors couldn't shut. It was more or less clean apart from the blankets, and the appliances worked. There weren't enough blankets for everyone, but luckily the rooms were warm. The shower was fine for the first two or three people, then the boiler needed time to heat the water again, so we had to plan showers. Cleaning rules are strict, but there was no soap, detergent, or cloth, just brooms. The balconies were spacious and nice. The gym, sauna, and pool feel very old and probably haven't been renovated. Water dripped from the ceiling. The gym is small and some machines didn't work. The sauna only fits around seven or eight people and was full on weekends. The pool is huge, though the water felt a bit cold to me, and there's a jacuzzi too. Both are outside. There isn't a private place to shower. Men also have to follow a strict rule about swimming shorts. For the price, it's one of the cheapest places to stay at the resort. The facilities aren't new, but it's still a pretty good deal when you consider the cost.

The bed I had was old and uncomfortable, with a huge dip in the middle. Also, we got a warning paper on the windshield the next morning, even though parking there was allowed. No idea why, it felt like a stupid system and unfriendly treatment. There are only a few parking spots around the buildings, so be ready to walk quite a bit. The apartments are basic and small, 35 square metres for six people, though apparently that's common in France. They're usable, and the ski area is pretty close. Staff were friendly, and there's a small room for wet ski gear, which was handy. There was no internet at all, which in 2019 was a bad joke. TV had only French channels. Bring dishwasher tablets from home and try the dishwasher on the first day. The 450 euro deposit is a lot, and if you don't report problems early, it seems easy to lose money.

Good value for the price, and the skipass was included. The rooms have everything you need, with the slopes and lifts just 50 metres away and a supermarket 100 metres away. It suits beginner and intermediate skiers well. The GSM signal was really bad.

The location is the one good thing about this place. The accommodation itself had no bedding ready, no soap or shampoo, and just one roll of toilet paper, with no more once it ran out. There were as many beds as possible and hardly any interior doors, so you had to improvise. Yet there was a long list of rules, duties, and penalties. Does that sound like paradise?

This was our third stay in Chamrousse, and we've never had accommodation this bad. The apartment was in terrible condition, dirty and far below what you'd expect. We had a six-person unit, but only four people could fit comfortably because both the room and kitchen were tiny. We left the apartment cleaner than we found it, yet they still charged us from the cleaning deposit for faults that didn't exist. The charges seemed to be for inadequate cleaning or basically anything, without a proper explanation. I would never recommend this place. If you're planning to stay here, be prepared for very poor quality and what felt like unfair treatment.
