Hotel & Spa Le Grand Monarque, Best Western Premier Collection

We were very happy with our stay, and Luna was welcome in both restaurants. My husband and I brought our puppy, who even got a plush bed of her own. The room was huge and comfortable, with lovely decor. The car park felt secure and was just a short way from the hotel. We ate at both restaurants. The food was sublime and the service impeccable. I’d recommend the hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to book again. We really enjoyed our time there.

We stayed one night and would happily come back. Our comfort double was a good size, with a nice bathroom and a kettle. The hotel’s decor throughout is lovely. We had an excellent meal at La Cours Brasserie, and the service was friendly and very good. Breakfast cost extra, but there was such a great selection that choosing was hard. We highly recommend Le Grand Monarque Hotel.

We got a wonderful welcome, and the staff were very helpful. The restaurant was fantastic, and the rooms were lovely, with a mix of historic details and modern touches, especially in the bathroom.

The service was awful from start to finish. At check-in, Thea was rude and reluctant to communicate, and had trouble with English. It took about 15 minutes to get checked in, and the rooms were still wrong. The room was dirty, as if it had only been cleaned when the hotel opened or when the previous owners were there. Getting a bartender took ages. I ended up looking for him myself and then had to wait again. At breakfast, they turned me and the children away, saying the buffet was closing. There wasn’t any water available, and when I put eggs on to boil, the waiter switched it off. There is parking, but nobody told me about it or saved a space, as I’d expect at a good hotel. I wouldn’t recommend this place. I’m sure there are other good hotels nearby with better service and staff. The team here needs to be changed as soon as possible.
