Mercure Chartres Centre Cathédrale

The worst hotel stay of my life. I was here for business from 1-3.09.2025. On the morning of 2.09, I left my engagement ring in the room. When I returned from work later that day, it was missing, and I saw that the room had been cleaned. I reported it straight away to the receptionist and made an oral report to hotel management. After checking with the cleaning staff, they told me nothing had been found. I also filed a formal police report at the Chartres police station on 2.09.2025. As of 2.12.2025, the hotel still hasn't responded to me.

Service was very good, the rooms were clean, and the hotel is near the Cathedrale. I can't give the room five stars, though, because it was right next to a facilities room and was very noisy at night.

After my three-day, 85km pilgrimage from Paris to Chartres, the Hôtel Mercure Chartres Centre Cathédrale was just the place I needed to recover. At the front desk I was welcomed warmly, and they upgraded me to a superior room at no extra cost. I really appreciated that after such a long walk. The spacious, clean room was very comfortable, with enough space to stretch out. The bathroom was large and spotless, and both hot and cold water worked properly. A warm bath did wonders for my tired, aching body. Breakfast the next morning was another highlight: fresh, delicious food, from pastries and fruit to coffee, all top quality. The bright, clean dining room made for a relaxing start to the day. Thanks to the team for making the end of my pilgrimage so peaceful and memorable. I wholeheartedly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Chartres for a pilgrimage, business, or leisure. I'll absolutely return.

We've stayed in hundreds of hotels across Europe over the last nine years, and found this a pleasant place to stay. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the bed was comfortable, the room quiet, and the hotel clean. Breakfast was good, restaurants were within walking distance, the elevators worked well, and the air conditioning was good. A few things could be better: the room lighting, the shower head that kept falling down, and the wifi, which knocked us offline every so often. Three-star hotels have better wifi than this. We'd gladly stay again.
