Mercure Poitiers Site du Futuroscope Hotel

Morgan and the rest of the team were great, professional, friendly, and helpful. The hotel was clean and had plenty of free parking. We found it considerably better than the Novotel across the road and would recommend it.

With kids in winter, getting to Futuroscope is a nightmare if you don’t have a car. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk away, which I imagine is fine in summer. Service is very basic, with just one person covering reception for the whole hotel. The rooms need refurbishment, and the only restaurant there is catastrophic. Management should travel abroad and see how badly this compares with almost anywhere else.

The Wi-Fi was surprisingly good by French standards, and the reception team spoke excellent English, so check-in and questions were easy. The breakfast staff, though, didn’t speak English, which could be tricky for anyone who doesn’t speak French. Breakfast costs €13.50 per person. It’s decent enough for a quick start to the day, but there isn’t a lavish selection. Hotel Jules Verne worked well for one night, with friendly service and the basics covered. The rooms are small, but very clean and well maintained. The air conditioning worked, though it didn’t seem in the best shape and may be a problem on hotter days.

Amenities felt limited for a four-star hotel by US and Asian standards: there were no slippers, toothbrush or toothpaste, or body soap, and I paid 14 euros for a few small bottles of water. If you’re arriving by train to visit the amusement park, I’d definitely use the station’s luggage transfer service. Drop your bags there and head straight to the park, then they’ll take them to the hotel, which is a good 20-25 minute walk away. We had a nice stay. The staff were polite, the room clean, and the beds comfortable. The air conditioning worked fine, and breakfast had fresh local produce in a large dining room with a 180 degree view.
