I first stumbled on this quaint hotel when a huge storm hit as my partner Kathy and I were riding my motorbike back to Ireland from Italy. Henry, the owner, was welcoming and helpful, even carrying some luggage in from the bike. We had a drink and a great chat about his years at sea, and it turned out I’d sailed on a ship he had worked on. The hotel is a piece of history, with lots of interesting artifacts and stories behind them. I’ve since stayed there again while riding to Spain. Henry remembered me and gave me the same room. I’d definitely recommend it if you want a feel for the past. It’s out in the countryside, so expect farm animal noises!

Disgusting. It smelled of urine, though at least the dust seemed to soak some of it up. The owner could have used a wash and a change of clothes too.

A nice place, though it seems best suited to a stay of just a night or two.
