I couldn't even give this hotel one star, and I don't know how it got a two-star rating. I had already prepaid, but my wife and I weren't staying the night. The room on the third floor was very, very basic, and the place gave me a very uneasy feeling. I returned the key to reception and left, then had to find another hotel in Chateauroux, which was a hundred times better. We drove into the rear car park and the first thing I saw was rubbish everywhere. At the front entrance, the door was locked and we waited about twenty minutes with no staff or guests in sight. A tradesman who seemed to have been working at the hotel helped us by calling a number. A staff member opened the door about ten minutes later. Inside, I got the impression the hotel was closed for business because nobody was around.

The barman was a great character and the prices were fair. Our room was a reasonable size, clean, and had a comfy bed. But there was only one bath towel and one hand towel for the two of us, and a faulty wall light left the room a bit dark.

A quiet, peaceful place with good parking and a good restaurant. Clean and comfortable too.

The shower was clean, but the pin on the outside door didn't work.
