Hôtel Restaurant le Prieuré

The people are what stayed with us most. The family running the hotel, along with a couple of friends, handled everything and all went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The owners, their children, and friends were amazing. We'd only booked a night with no other plans, but the place fascinated us so much that we changed course and stayed another. If our schedule had allowed, we wouldn't have hesitated to extend again, but we had to return home to Strasbourg. The pastoral surroundings, clear pool, distinctive building, spacious areas, and quiet all drew us in. Other guests I spoke with agreed it was lovely and good value for money. We were already counting the days until we could come back.

It takes a detour to get to this hotel and restaurant, but the service was excellent and the food really good. They cook local meats over embers on a wood-fired range in the restaurant. The terrace looks out over Arlanc, too. Well worth the trip.

The restaurant is out in the countryside, and the seasonal dishes made with local ingredients were delicious. The trout tartare with beetroot butter was excellent, and the asparagus dishes were very good. The floating island is a classic, but it was presented really nicely. There's also a large fireplace for grilled meats, and the service was impeccable. It was lovely how quiet the room was, with such good acoustics.
