The most unsettling part was a scary man in an old van in the car park who stared at us the whole time we unloaded. The fire exit was left wide open all night, apparently to let air into the hotel, which meant anyone could come in. My husband shut it, but half an hour later it was open again. The room was boiling even with every window open, so we barely slept. On arrival, two toilets were filthy and we had to walk further to find a clean one. We'd paid nearly 90 euros, yet after a long day's drive and arriving late, we still had to make up five separate bunk beds ourselves.

The staff were very friendly, which rounded out a good stay. I slept well and had breakfast, all for a reasonable price. I chose this F1 hotel for an overnight stop in Chaumont on my way south, and, having stayed with the chain for years, found what I expected and was happy with it.

A clean, decent basic hotel, with okay beds, free parking and reasonable prices in 2021. Just know what you're getting: the toilet and bathroom are shared, there's no towel or water cup in the room, and there's one power outlet plus two USB sockets. The TV works. Fine for passing through when all you need is to eat, sleep, and repeat.

For a stop on the drive down France from Calais, this is a brilliant choice for the money. The breakfast wasn't really a buffet to me, and some showers were dirty or broken, so it's not amazing, but still really good value.
