We went for Mother's Day, and although the restaurant was packed, the all-female team was friendly and quick with requests. Roast lamb came with homemade mint sauce, which I’m not keen on, so I asked for redcurrant jelly. It arrived quickly, and a few other tables who felt the same shared it too. There’s no menu. They ask about food intolerances when you book and take care to work around them. The local, seasonal food was all fresh, and every dish came with a little explanation. It was fully delicious. I’d absolutely recommend eating here, and the scenery makes me want to stay in the attached rooms.

We turned up a bit early because people say it’s hard to find, but it was dead easy. Alice & Jo were so friendly, and we had a cheeky aperitif and a natter with them. Then came the best meal we’ve had in France, and we’ve had a few. Lovely people, brilliant food, and excellent value made for a great afternoon. I’d be tempted to leave a one star review so it might be easier to get a table next time, but that’d be selfish. We’ll certainly come back if we can get one!

It’s a beautiful place, but being above a restaurant meant we couldn’t sleep the way we wanted to.
