La Closerie du Bucher

The hostess was very pleasant, and the farmhouse and garden are lovely. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with its own bathroom, though there was no toilet in it. But the musty smell was very strong in the room, on the sheets, and in the hallway. Breakfast was mediocre too. For the listed price, we expected fresh bread instead of toast or French toast.

Everything felt exquisite, from the garden and room decor to the linens and towels. Breakfast was lovely too, especially the fantastic jams, and it can be served in the garden when the weather’s nice. We had a warm welcome, and the place was spotless. We stayed at La Closerie du Bucher this weekend and highly recommend it.

The enclosed courtyard made for secure parking, and the location was ideal. I loved starting the day in the delightful garden with breakfast and homemade jams. The hostess went out of her way to make our stay memorable, and animal lovers will adore Pastille, the lively, affectionate Jack Russell. We have such fond memories of this idyllic, timeless stay in a majestic farmhouse.

The house is pretty, with a lovely, well-kept garden, but the rest of our stay was disappointing. The bedrooms and sheets had a very strong musty smell, and the dust on the dresser was appalling. The hostess was practically absent. Thankfully her cousin was there with her grandson, or the place would have felt like a ghost town. The owner wasn’t there when we arrived, then during her brief visit she rushed us to pay, saying she wouldn’t be there for breakfast. It felt like she wanted to make money from the guesthouse without putting in much effort. I don’t recommend it. What a shame.
