Valérie was a friendly, welcoming host who spoke good English and even helped us book dinner in Soissons one evening. She lives on site in a third apartment, while two other apartments are available to rent. Ours was clean and comfortable, with plenty of space and a large deck of its own. There’s parking on the property, and the photos show the attached deck. We had a great stay at Le Clos du Val this past summer and would gladly recommend it. The property is in a small village about a 20-30 minute drive from Soissons, with beautiful surroundings. It’s well placed for visiting Chemin des Dames or Fort de Condé, just 2 km away.

The cottage is charming, spotlessly clean, and practical. Its setting is idyllic, too. Thanks to Valérie for the warm welcome and useful tips.

We paid upfront through Booking.com for a stay for five people over the Easter holidays. After the payment was taken from our account, we were told another guest wanted the accommodation for a whole month and that we should cancel. I was appalled by the audacity. We don’t want to stay somewhere we’re unwelcome, so we canceled. We still haven’t received our money back, though we’ll wait and see. I can’t recommend this place. It seems that if someone else comes along willing to pay more, they get preference. No thanks! We booked the same Easter stay through Booking.com for five people and paid in advance. Once the money had been taken from our account, a message arrived saying another customer wanted to reserve the accommodation for an entire month and we should cancel. I was truly astonished by the nerve. Since we don’t stay somewhere we aren’t welcome, we canceled our booking. We haven’t got the money back yet, but we’ll see. I can’t recommend the accommodation if someone who pays more is given priority. No thanks.

The hostess is very welcoming, and private parking adds to the calm, relaxing feel of this charming place in the heart of the Soissonnais region. It appears to be laid out very well. I highly recommend it.
