Avoid this place. The owner waited until the last minute to cancel and never told us. We had to keep calling before she finally said she couldn't take our reservation, even though we were already at the meeting place to pay the deposit. This is the second time she's cancelled on us at the last minute. Truly appalling. She needs to rethink how she treats customers, or she'll end up closing.
What's the point of setting a time to pay the deposit if you don't show up or even let me know? You said you'd rather I stayed two nights instead of one. Fine, but why make me come all that way? 😡🤬
The cottage is well located and has all the equipment you need. But the owner wasn't very pleasant. We had booked two nights, Friday to Sunday, and heavy rain and wind all day Friday meant we didn't want to drive to Cilaos then. We arrived Saturday instead. We'd paid a deposit, and I understand not getting that back for the missed first night. But we were told we could only arrive from 2 pm Saturday, and still had to pay the full balance for both nights, including Friday. That didn't feel right. There weren't enough blankets for the night. There were no proper duvets, just one for a single bed, and the other blankets weren't comfortable and didn't seem to have been washed.
For a four-person cottage, it was fairly inexpensive, generally clean, and well equipped. We did have to wait 45 minutes for the attendant. The site says breakfast is available, but it wasn't, and getting to the cottage on the slope was not very easy.
The view was beautiful, and it was peaceful, with the city center still fairly close. We stayed two nights and everything was perfect, from the welcome and cleanliness to the cottage's equipment. I'd recommend it without hesitation.
