ibis budget Clermont-Ferrand Centre Montferrand

The front desk lady was very friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself was an absolute joke. We drove from England to Spain and stayed in Ibis Budget (blue) hotels at different places on the way down. They weren't anything special, but we knew what we'd booked. On the way back from Spain to England, we booked this Ibis (red) and were completely disappointed. They didn't have the rooms we'd booked, so our group of four adults and one child was given rooms on different floors. One room looked new, the other old. The new one was tiny and smelled of paint, so we couldn't stay there. The hotel is old and was being renovated, but nobody had told us. The rooms are very small, and it wasn't worth staying here. Avoid it.

The rooms are very clean, and it was a pleasure to stay at this hotel. The price is good, and I'd recommend it.

Breakfast was adequate, but that's about all I can say for the place. The room was the smallest I've ever seen, and the bathroom was barely bigger than a broom cupboard. The shower screen didn't stop the floor becoming a pool, while the separate toilet was awkwardly tiny. I couldn't get out of bed without hitting the wall about 40 cm away. The shower gel had fallen off the wall, and someone had covered the hole with sticky tape. The sheet didn't fit the bed, and the paper-thin walls made it the worst night's sleep ever. It's cheap for a reason. Never going back.

We’d expected more because it’s part of the Accor group. After a very late arrival, all we wanted was a decent shower, but that didn’t happen, and the toilet wouldn’t flush. That made things awkward in a family room. Breakfast was okay for the price, nothing special. Our next stop was a B&B hotel, and at the same price it was much better.
