I was frightened for our safety while we were abroad, so I went to the local police station in Colmar and filed a report. I hope nobody else has to go through this. I felt verbally abused and threatened by the owner, and I believe his conduct toward guests is unethical. After I booked through booking.com, he told the site that I hadn't checked in, and my booking was cancelled. I can only assume he wanted to prevent me from leaving a verified review. I asked politely about a cigarette smell in the room. Another traveller had made the same observation a month earlier, as shown in a screenshot. The owner then sent us aggressive messages and insults, including “Shut your mouth,” “I am coming to kick you out,” “eat bitumen,” and “you losers,” translated through Google Translate. I urge potential guests to look at the evidence and screenshots I took of the abuse, threats, and intimidation directed at my elderly parents and me.

The apartment is handy for the town center, but the garden is untidy and the place was impossible to heat while it was still chilly outside. The kitchen has no door, the radiator is much too small, and the smart radiator valves kept switching the heating off. I also had a very unpleasant exchange with the owner. It was rude and even threatening when I asked to change the invoice so I could process the stay for business.

We barely had to walk to reach the historic center, shops, or restaurants, and the apartment itself was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The little terrace is charming, and it made a good base for a few days in the city. The one disappointment was the lack of communication from the owner. We got no recommendations and no follow-up during or after the stay. A shame.

The shaded little garden was lovely, and the place is close to the center and shops. For parents with babies, it was thoughtful to find a crib, bib, and suitable utensils there. One tip: you can still find some free on-street parking about a five-minute walk away, near the Lacarre parking lot.

The owner welcomed us warmly, and the terrace outside was a lovely bonus. The apartment was quiet and very comfortable, with the city center close by.
