The location was easily the best part, and the staff were friendly. Check-in and check-out were smooth, too. Breakfast was simple but okay for £10 each, especially since other options in Colmar tend to cost a lot. Otherwise, it wouldn’t feel worth the price. I’d stayed at an Ibis Budget in Paris a couple of years ago, and this room was much worse. It felt like a cage, not just because it was small but because the layout was so awkward. The sink was in the bedroom, while the toilet and shower were in separate tiny cubicles. There was no ventilation in the toilet, which made it uncomfortable. A bunk was fitted right above the so-called “double” bed, which was actually two singles pushed together, so the ceiling wasn’t even visible and the room felt more claustrophobic. Even though it was the cheapest place available in Colmar when I booked, £150 a night for this room was outrageous. There was absolutely no value for money.

I spotted that I’d picked the wrong booking date and called the hotel straight away to ask if it could be changed. I understand they might not be able to do that, but the receptionist who answered was impatient and unfriendly. They could still have shown a little courtesy and tried to be helpful.

Having parking at the hotel was a real plus. Finding a spot during the Christmas holiday rush would otherwise have been very difficult, and the location is good. Colmar was extremely popular then, so the hotel was very expensive. We stayed with our six-month-old, but the room was so small that they couldn’t provide a baby cot.

Breakfast cost 10.5 euros and had plenty of choice. The staff spoke fluent English. We stayed for two nights, from Dec 18 to Dec 20, with my parents. The hotel is around 15 minutes from the train and bus stations, and about 10 or 15 minutes from Colmar’s streets.

We found the hotel clean, with a varied, high quality breakfast, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a very nice place, with everything close by for sightseeing. The nearby central station also has very good train and bus connections. Highly recommend.
