Suites Residences Spa

The apartment was spacious, with distinctive decor, and the location was superb. The kitchen was great, and the spa feature was a definite bonus. The main drawback was the bed: it felt unstable and made a lot of noise.

Joan was especially friendly and helpful, and the hotel was impressively clean, right down to the fresh-smelling towels and crisp bedding. We loved staying in a traditional Alsatian house, which gave the place a distinctive charm. It was ideally located for the things we wanted to explore. A delightful stay, highly recommended for a clean, friendly, authentically charming place.

The bed was comfortable, and it stayed quiet at night. It’s also really close to the old town. The downside was the cleanliness, which could definitely be better. You can only shower by crouching in the bathtub.

We stayed because the room looked nice when we checked in, but the place was nothing like its listing. It was presented as a five-star hotel with a shower and a 24/7 reception. In reality, it was an apartment with no shower and nobody on site to talk to. Before booking, read the other reviews: guests have raised these issues before, and the owner reportedly responds by insulting them and calling them liars. When we tried to sleep, we kept waking to what sounded like rodents running around in the ceiling. One window also wouldn’t shut or lock properly and could be opened from the balcony, which left us feeling unsafe while we were out or asleep. The spa bath leaked and soaked the room. Water marks and mold on the walls and floor, including behind and under the bed, suggested this had happened before. We spent the first hours of our trip cleaning and drying things. The water we mopped up was black, which was disturbing given the extra €35 cleaning fee. It was too late to contact the owner by then. The bath also wasn’t clean: when switched on, it sent clumps of hair and dead skin from previous guests out through the air and water outlets, so we had to clean it before using it. The “included breakfast” means going out in the cold to pick it up from a nearby bakery. This was the most horrible place I’ve ever stayed. Do yourself a favor and don’t book it.
