Kopster Hotel Residence Paris Colombes

The barman working the evening of 25/1/26 was fantastic. He looked up my favourite drink and made it just right. The food was great, too. The bed was comfy, and I could cast my phone to the TV to watch movies. I had a lovely stay and can’t fault the experience.

The rooftop restaurant on the 8th floor was a great place to have breakfast and spend some time, and the staff were quick to answer my questions. The hotel is near the train station, in a quiet, safe area, and there’s free Wi-Fi. Hot water was always available almost instantly. The lift was fast and needed a secure badge. There’s also a gym, though I didn’t use it. We stayed four nights in a room facing the main road rather than the city. Parking is available, but it’s quite expensive, with taxes added on. The TV wasn’t smart, so we were limited to French channels. Some days there was a strong, odd sewage-like smell. It might have been connected to construction nearby, but it was pretty bad. There was mould in the bathroom, which shouldn’t happen in any hotel, especially one rated four stars. It has some good features, but to me this is a three-star hotel, not a four-star one.

The road noise is the main thing to know: the hotel sits right beside the A86, which stays very busy through the night, so bring earplugs. It’s nicely fitted out, but already looks a bit worn despite still being quite new. Coach tour groups stop here, and breakfast can be an eye-opening experience when they do. There’s little around the hotel, and it’s not a convenient base unless you need the A86. Local amenities are sparse, and the neighbourhood feels rough.

Breakfast was good, but I wouldn’t stay here again, especially in a room facing the street. Room 603, and odd-numbered rooms in general, face the main road. The noise made it impossible to sleep. It felt like I was sleeping out in the street. There was also a terrible sewage smell in the room, a very bad experience for a four-star hotel. I arrived before check-in at 15:00 and waited two hours, with no one at reception even letting me know when my room was ready. I contacted the hotel through Booking and its own contact form, but got no reply. I asked for the room to be cleaned on 5 April. When I returned, there was no toilet paper, not even the nearly empty roll I’d left. I raised these problems at reception and got the same indifference. They said another room would be available after one night and that I could move, but nobody followed up with any details, so I had to put up with it for my whole stay. There was also awful noise from above. At one point something was dropped hard enough that I felt the bed shake beneath me. Luckily, my daughters were exhausted and slept right through it.
