We had to contact the hotel twice after booking to make sure the twin room was confirmed in advance. This year, getting one seemed to depend on availability when we arrived, based on the new choices at Booking.com. That's a small downside. Still, we've now stayed here four times with great pleasure, always for a night on our way home to the Netherlands. It's a comfortable hotel with plenty of character.

As an Iranian tour guide who specializes in customized Qajar Persia itineraries, I hope I can visit Hôtel La Souveraine à Contrexéville one day. Mozaffar ad-Din Shah was given a heart-warming welcome there three times, in 1900, 1902 and 1905. Our ailing king suffered from genetic "gout" throughout his adulthood and chose the thermal baths and mineral waters of this small town for treatment. I'm proud that, after more than a century, the ancient Persian symbol of Lion and Sun is still shown on Contrexéville's "coat of arms", thanks to those peaceful Belle Époque journeys.

We were surprised by how pretty and comfortable this hotel was during our one-night stay. It's a beautiful place with a rich history, set in a lovely, distinctive location. The staff were welcoming and kind, and the receptionists speak French and English. Pets are allowed too. It was a great place to rest after a long trip, and we'd definitely stay again.

We arrived late but still got a warm, personal welcome, and felt at home. The staff and the whole place seem focused on making you comfortable. Our renovated room was very clean and had a really comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent, with good products served in a pleasant, clean room. The atmosphere was lovely, and I couldn't find a negative point, even after staying in many hotels. Definitely a good place to stay.

We stop at Hotel La Souveraine when driving from Barcelona to the Netherlands. The room was large and very comfortable, and the quiet surroundings helped us forget the long drive. There's plenty to do nearby, so we could easily have stayed for a few more days.
