We were there in spring, from April 10 to April 13, 2017, and the wisteria in the courtyard was beautiful. The hotel is small and pet friendly, with courteous, helpful staff. Rooms are simple but clean and nicely stocked, and we enjoyed the breakfasts each day. We also had a fabulous dinner in the restaurant one evening. Cordes is a hidden gem worth seeing. Walk around and explore, and the valley views from the village are unbelievable when it's foggy.

Dinner was excellent, with a short menu: two duck dishes, two salmon dishes, cassoulet, and a different fish while we were there. We spent a very pleasant two nights at the Hostellerie du Vieux Cordes, in a traditional building renovated to a high standard. Our room, no. 2, was comfortable and adequately spacious, with a view toward the opposite hills; the decor and furnishings were also high quality. The bathroom had a nice shower, though no bath. Tea, coffee, a kettle, and bottled water weren't in the room unless requested. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was a little disappointing: there was cereal but no bowls, just one croissant per person though plenty of bread, and the yoghurt and compote were too sweet for me. My wife would have liked strawberry jam. It was the start of the season and they were understaffed, so usually nobody was around to ask unless we went to reception. All in all, a very pleasant stay and recommended.

The breakfast alone was worth the trip to France, and the people here are so lovely. We did have a problem with our room when the hotel was almost full, but the owner worked hard to sort it out. Just five minutes after it started, in the middle of the night, she found us another room and helped us move.

On a cold day, the warm atmosphere in the beautifully furnished dining room was especially welcome. We came looking for lunch and found the Hostellrie du Vieux Cordes serving Galetes and Crepes. Our charming, friendly hosts guided us through the limited but interesting menu and told us a little about the Hostellrie. The food arrived promptly and was absolutely delicious, just right for lunch. We relaxed over a bottle of red wine, and it was a delightful experience we will definitely repeat.

The restaurant was excellent, with great food and a lovely atmosphere in its newly renovated, beautifully decorated space. The hotel is right beside église, in the heart of vieux cordes. I felt very welcome and experienced real hospitality here. The service was very good and attentive.
