This is about the restaurant, not the hotel. We came back after a wonderful meal here two years ago with the previous owner, when the food was amazing. This time it was a different owner, and the service was genuinely terrible, much too fancy for the place. The wine was warm, and the food was okay, but not worth the price: €150 for three people, including wine and three menus. The staff were grumpy and spent about ten minutes complaining about how much they work before we could even order. I have sympathy, but customers shouldn't have to listen to that in a restaurant presenting itself as fancy. Paying took another 15 minutes. The waitress took our credit card into the kitchen without telling us, which I believe isn't legal in France. I wouldn't recommend eating here. Apparently the hotel still has the previous owner, so I'd only stop at the hotel.

The room itself was nice, but the service left a bad impression. We checked in at Hotel de la Poste after reaching Corps, and were a bit shocked by the prices. We'd asked for a deluxe room and were told one was available. Because of a village water problem, we were explicitly told not to drink from the tap and that a bottle of water would be brought up. Soon after, we saw lots of bottles being delivered to the hotel. That evening, a local pizzeria also offered us a bottle. pizzeria Napoleon is a nice restaurant with a good chef and good service. Back at the hotel, we asked for water to brush our teeth and were told we'd have to pay for the bottle, despite the €150 a night room and the instruction not to use the tap water. The next morning, the owner first told us we could brush our teeth with the water as long as we didn't swallow it, then said the water had only been delivered that morning. It was sad that she couldn't admit a mistake. We checked out immediately without brushing our teeth, then went to the nearest other hotel for breakfast and service. Nice room, poor service.

REVIEW OF THE RESTAURANT ONLY: The food and service both fell short of what I remembered, so after visiting this restaurant several times over the past 20 years, I don't plan to return. My husband and I went in July to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I wanted him to discover a place with great food that had been part of my own food history. We chose the €45 menu and a nice bottle of wine for the occasion, but we were both very disappointed. I can't say whether we were treated differently because we wore jeans or because the staff were overwhelmed by the busy restaurant, but we noticed several things that seemed to set our table apart. There was no towel around the wine bottle, so water dripped onto our table whenever we poured. Our waiter cleared bread crumbs from other tables but left ours. We had to ask several times for a bottle of water, which took ten minutes to arrive. They asked how everything was before we'd finished the menu, while we'd already waited more than 20 minutes for dessert. After we'd asked for the bill and waited, my husband took out his card. An older waiter spoke to him aggressively, saying he seemed in a hurry to pay, even though we'd requested the bill ten minutes earlier. The food was disappointing too. The chef's surprise dish in the middle of the menu was oversalted scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, and didn't add much flavor. The duck was overcooked and too salty. The vaniglia experience was missing some flavor pairings, and the cheese was dry despite the excellent selection.

The rooms are the weak spot: they're small and look like they were decorated a few decades ago. Still, the owner and staff are the real strength of the place. Everyone was lovely and happy to offer advice, and the food was really good without costing much. I stopped for one night during a road trip on the Napoleon road and found the place pretty nice.
