Hotel le Vendangerot

The food is great, but I find the accommodation very dangerous in case of fire. There are no secondary exits or fire stairs. Ventilation is also lacking. Management says the stairway window has to stay closed to prevent fire from spreading. Totally insane.

I can't believe this restaurant hasn't got Michelin stars. The food is incredible, and the service is amazing. The waiters are polite, knowledgeable, and always available without hovering, and they clearly take pride in their work. There's an extensive wine list with lots of local wines, and being in the middle of Burgundy means the local wines are fantastic. We first stumbled on the place by accident and have returned every time we're in the area. It's in the small village of Rully, about seven miles from Beaune, a major stop for visiting the many vineyards. It can get busy with local regulars, so booking ahead for lunch or dinner is a good idea. If you're like me and aren't confident booking a table in French, arriving early for food service can work too. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting the area. In a more populated area, I'm sure it would have won Michelin stars.

We really enjoyed the pigeon and steak rossini. A lovely setting, fine food and good wines, all at an honest price. Great restaurant.

The lunch deals are really worth it, and having your meal on the terrace beside the park makes the good food even nicer.
