Bubble Dreams

We arrived to find the gate shut, and no one there to let us in. We’d booked and paid for one night, and had said we expected to arrive around 8-9 pm. The journey from the Netherlands took longer than expected, so we got there at 9:50 pm. The owner said his wife had left 20 minutes earlier and couldn’t return. He lived 40 minutes away, but when we offered to come pick up the keys, he said that wasn’t possible either. When we asked what we could do, he just said there was nothing he could do. We also asked whether we’d get our money back since we couldn’t check in, and got the same answer. He offered no alternative, so it seemed we’d have to sleep outside. We’d spoken about our arrival less than four hours before he or his wife left. Someone who cared about their business and customers could at least have called before leaving. The owner was anything but professional. He started yelling and made it sound like it was our fault, without trying to find another solution. Other reviews had mentioned his strange responses, including the way he replies to reviews. That had made us hesitate before booking, but we gave him the benefit of the doubt. We absolutely wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you’re fine with being treated badly.
