Tribe Paris La Defense Esplanade

The breakfast was a mess: the dining room was filthy, the food displays were disorganized, there was no hot food left, and barely anything else to choose from. The staff seemed unbothered. We ended up eating at the bar because it was the only clean surface in the area. Our suite, when we finally got in, felt very average for the price. It was clean enough, but more like a standard room with a suite price tag. We booked Tribe Paris La Defense Esplanade for New Year’s Eve expecting a premium stay. After arriving past the check-in time, we still had to wait more than two hours for the room. Staff kept giving different explanations, mostly that new cleaning staff didn’t know how to do their jobs. The hotel seemed completely unprepared for a major holiday. I raised the problems several times while waiting, complained again at breakfast, and checked out in person so I could repeat how unhappy I was. At checkout, the manager shrugged and called it a “busy time of year.” Afterward, though, the hotel told my booking agent that no concerns had been raised. I consider that a blatant, calculated lie, and they never logged my complaints. It felt like they were calling me a liar. I’ve never experienced such a mix of poor operations and dishonesty from management. They took my money, gave us substandard service, and then denied hearing about it. Avoid this hotel.

The room was rather tight for my husband and me, and with our big suitcases we couldn’t easily open both at once. Still, the bed was really comfortable, if a little high, and the bathroom had plenty of space. We also had a kettle with tea and coffee, plus a water refill station on every floor. TRIBE Hotel feels fresh and modern, and it’s conveniently close to La Défense metro station and a grocery store. Breakfast was good, too. Even with the compact room, I’d recommend TRIBE for a stay in the area because of the comfort, style, and price.

The hotel itself was fine, but two different workers, a man and a woman, opened my room door without knocking while I was asleep, then left. I’m a light sleeper and would’ve heard anything, so how is that okay? I wouldn’t stay here again. Reception apologized when I reported it, but there was no follow-up action.

Abi gave us great service at dinner. The food was very good, and the portions were large, with enough healthy choices and some fine wines. It’s a very convenient place. I only visited the restaurant and didn’t use the hotel service.
