Club Vacanciel Courchevel

This is a hard review to write. We've spent Christmas week at this hotel every year for more than ten years, travelling from the USA to enjoy it. We made friends with regular guests and watched the place change over time, back when it was called Vacanciel. There have been good and bad changes, but nothing like this year's experience under the new management. We won't be back, and we're extremely disappointed and shocked. We'll find somewhere else for 2026, as will some of the regulars we spoke with. The problems began with the new director's welcome talk. It felt less like a welcome and more like an army general laying down rules to soldiers. We felt like students or employees being disciplined, not customers. The talk was extremely long, and the director even yelled at a child to stop talking and listen. People were confused from the first day. After that, people I spoke to seemed to get scolded every five minutes over things that shouldn't matter. A regular left the cafeteria with a croissant, and the receptionist yelled at him in front of me, saying it was against hotel policy. On the last day, a guest who'd had a ski accident asked for 30 extra minutes in his room because he couldn't move quickly. The receptionist said he'd have to pay extra. He asked if he could have just 15 minutes, but she refused. He could barely walk straight after the crash, and she showed him no empathy or mercy. Those are only a few examples. The heat was turned down, and the quality and quantity of the food were significantly reduced. The worst incident was in the parking lot on the last day. An American/Jewish family we'd met at the hotel found a swastika, a Nazi symbol, drawn on their car. They immediately notified the director. He replied, "Who cares? This is legal in the US," and refused to check the security cameras. This is considered a hate crime in France, as it should be. How can a hotel director make such a hateful, inconsiderate and harmful comment to guests? It was beyond belief.
