Ecrin Blanc Resort Courchevel

After a relaxing visit to Aquamotion, we stopped by the restaurant to finish the day. It has a warm, welcoming feel, and the striking view adds a lot to the meal. The small menu is thoughtfully put together, with quality ingredients and balanced flavors. The bar's unique design makes it a lovely place to enjoy a drink. With the spa so close by, it's an ideal stop after unwinding there. Definitely worth a visit.

We arrived at Ecrin Blanc in Courchevel yesterday, and despite the initial welcome, the stay has been extremely disappointing. For what we paid and for a hotel in this location, I can't convince myself it was worth it. We won't recommend it or return. There are better options in Courchevel that meet basic expectations of comfort and hospitality. The room was uncomfortably cold. The central heating clearly couldn't support the hotel, and we were given a portable heater just to warm up the room. That's unacceptable for a winter resort hotel and set a bad tone from the start. Breakfast was by far the worst we've had at a hotel of this standard: just a small selection of cold cuts, bread, and dry crepes. Eggs and omelettes cost an extra €9, which seems unreasonable for a hotel that presents itself as high quality. When we asked about the limited buffet, we were told they “can't do much because they are preparing lunch in the same restaurant.” That suggests poor organization and service standards. We asked to speak with the manager, but that went even worse. He ignored us, kept eating and talking with his group, and showed no willingness to address our concerns. In a premium destination, that felt disrespectful and unacceptable.

I wouldn't return or recommend this hotel. The price doesn't match the quality, and the stay fell far below expectations for a property that presents itself as high-standard accommodation. The most serious problem was safety. After being away for several hours, I came back to find my room door left open with my personal belongings inside. That alone was enough to lose my trust. When we told management, their response was indifferent, with no real effort to help or handle it professionally. The facilities' cleanliness and general condition didn't give a sense of care or comfort. Breakfast was limited, with few options, and basic items that similar hotels normally include came at an extra charge.

This review is only about Le Grill. The hotel itself is fine, but the restaurant was a complete disappointment. Even with at least half the tables visibly empty, we waited over 30 minutes because we had no reservation. There was no explanation, courtesy, or attempt to fit us in. The empty tables just sat there. Once we were seated, we had to insist before the waiter came over. After that, service still felt reluctant and careless. We had to ask repeatedly for basic things, including a basket of bread that every other table already had. It made us feel like an inconvenience instead of paying guests. The front-of-house at Le Grill is poorly managed, inattentive, and oddly dismissive. That doesn't fit with what you'd expect from a restaurant attached to an otherwise acceptable hotel. A frustrating, unnecessary experience of bad hospitality.
