Restaurant Le Pilatus Courchevel

Altibar was fantastic back in the day, and Pilatus was okay at first. Its latest owners have wrecked it, though. The prices became absurd, around 50 euros for pasta with tomato sauce, in a valley already packed with overpriced, overly glitzy places that are mostly charmless dross. Thank God the latest Pilatus has closed. I hope whatever takes its place brings back the reasonably priced, good-quality food it used to have. Courchevel needs its old-school classics and quality back.

Service was amazing, and the location is nice. The restaurant looks modern and smart from outside, like a fine-dining place. I had a salad and a burger. The burger arrived first and was good, though the meat was a bit too soft; the salad was okay. In general, it’s expensive and the food quality is mediocre.

I’ve eaten here twice, and the food has been really good both times. The views are great, including what must be one of the world’s hardest airstrips to land on. I don’t really understand the complaints about prices. For Courchevel, they seem reasonable.

It’s a nice restaurant right on the slopes, but the prices are ridiculous. I ordered tea and water, then asked the waitress if they had cake or something. She suggested a large cookie to share. It was indeed big, but 44 euros for just a cookie is ridiculous. The total bill came to 61 euros.
