Kyriad Creil - Chantilly Nord

Free parking, helpful and kind staff, and a location about 10 minutes from the Chateau de Chantilly. For the price, those were the good points. But the rooms have a strange smell, and there’s no soundproofing at all. We could hear people in other rooms easily, even whispering. A group of what I believe was more than 20 people made noise all night. They were dancing above us so heavily that I thought the ceiling might collapse. There was also a door in our room connecting to a room occupied by different people. They couldn't open it from their side, but it still made us uncomfortable.

The bed and pillows were good, and the small bathroom had everything we needed. The hotel offers very good value for money. Special thanks to Jana at reception. She kindly changed our room when I asked for a double bed instead of two singles. In the morning she gave us directions and even called a place I wanted to visit to check whether it was open. She’s a real asset to the hotel. Thanks for everything! :)

Of the four Kyriad hotels we stayed at over six weeks, this was the worst. The room furniture was adequate and the beds were good, but the shower door was very hard to move and there was just one towel per person. The hotel advertises a bar, but there isn't one. At breakfast there were no hot dishes like eggs, bacon, or sausages, and no fresh baguette. A laptop was playing French talk shows very loudly. The night receptionist had friends over at reception until after 1 am. They were having a great time and were so noisy that people couldn't sleep.

The woman at reception was nice, the mattress was fine, and the room was clean. That's why I can give it a star for her and the mattress. Otherwise, the rooms smell bad, sometimes of cigarette smoke. There's a €50 fine for smoking, but it felt like an extra charge they don't really care about enforcing. We arrived at 23:00 and only then heard that breakfast was split into shifts, so they assigned us 7 in the morning. The eggs were boiled so hard they were almost like rocks, the pancakes tasted strange, and the cold cuts had an old, sour taste, as if they'd been in the fridge too long. There were no plates even during our shift, and we had to wait for food. No fried eggs either. Save your money and go somewhere else. I mean it!
