Hôtel Le Parpaillon

The salads were exactly what we needed during our bike ride, and they were fresh and really tasty. The owner took great care of us, even going out to get fresh ingredients since the place was empty, perhaps because business was slow due to covid19. I’d recommend it for the attentive service. We paid over €35 for 2 pints, 2 salads and 1 espresso, which felt a bit pricey for what we had.

The food was good, though expensive for what they offered, and the portions were small, so don't arrive hungry. Breakfast was OK, with the basics you need. The hotel had no soul: just a room with a bed, bathroom and bare walls, with years of wear and tear showing. It looked like it had been built in the 70's and never properly maintained or improved, and the bedding was awful. I couldn't find any charm there. I arrived with friends on a trip along the Franco-Italian border and checked into Hôtel Parpaillon in Crévoux, but the village itself felt abandoned and poorly kept. Children played on their own, there was nothing to do, not even a bar to lift the gloom. Maybe snow makes it look nicer in winter, but in summer it was like The Shining. I've never been to Chernobyl, but I felt as if I were in a town recovering from a disaster.

The keeper is a really nice, very kind man. It was perfect for us to spend the night and have a good meal in the restaurant. Thank you!

The restaurant was really good quality for the price, and the rooms were very good too. I didn't hate it.
