After a full day cycling in the rain and a bike breakdown, we arrived to a host who felt cold and awkward rather than welcoming. When I mentioned the shower was freezing, she just muttered something like, “Ah, it should work.” I’d seen online that dinner might be available, but couldn’t book it, so I asked. She said not to worry and promised a nice meal. It was okay, though the dessert was a bad combination. Then the bill came to 40 euros for two, plus 10 euros for drinks, with no prices mentioned beforehand. The rooms were noisy and pretty ugly, more kitsch than charming. I’ve stayed in much better places.

The cozy lounge, complete with a Christmas tree and decorations, and the comfortable bedrooms made us feel at home at La Gentilhommière. Marie-Andrée gave us such a warm welcome. This was our second end-of-year getaway here with friends, and we’d happily come back again. There are interesting places to see nearby, including the Château de Pierrefonds and the Rotonde de l'Armistice.

We were a group of 10 for a weekend, and the manor house had enough space and comfort for all of us. It's in a lovely, peaceful village, though getting there without a car is difficult, with the nearest train stations about 20 kilometers away. Marie-Andrée welcomed us wonderfully, and everyone in the group wants to return.

The owner was friendly, and the 5 bedrooms were all clean and comfortable, each with its own bathroom. We rented the whole cottage for my son's wedding at Domaine de Brion. The living room furniture was a little dated, though it had charm. Linens were included, and I understand the minimum stay is 2 nights. We could walk back, so there was no need to take the car 👍
