We were looking for an economical stop while traveling through France, so the price was fine, but we expected better. The sheets were clean, and I did get a shower, so at least I was clean. But the room was tired, worn and dented, with mildew on the walls. It had a bunk and a single bed for up to three people, a cubicle toilet and shower, and access was by external stairs. It seemed to be used by bikers and truck drivers. We arrived too late to change rooms, and I felt uncomfortable, so I didn’t sleep well. A few small changes and refreshed decor could make a big difference. Eco travel is such a focus nowadays.

When we arrived, lots of single men were hanging around the car park and hotel stairs. They seemed intimidating and took what felt like unwarranted interest in us and our car. We decided to give up the €44 room charge and book somewhere else.

Very, very basic, though I suppose you get what you pay for. The bathroom, shower and toilet were tiny, smaller than ones I’ve seen on a plane to Spain, so don’t expect room to stretch out. The floor could use a mop. The bedding was clean, but had cigarette burns on it.

Fine for a cheap and cheerful room. I only stopped for one night.
