Anna and Abel made us feel like friends throughout our stay, from the warm cocktail hours to their helpful tips on local hidden gems. Their dog Gosset even became our sweet, loyal companion at dinner. We left feeling we’d made lifelong friends and found a corner of France that feels like home. The property is gorgeous, with historic buildings renovated for modern comfort and lovely grounds where sheep wander. Our unit had a fully stocked kitchen, which was perfect for trying ingredients from nearby markets. Anna’s thoughtful design and elegant style show in every detail, blending old character with comfort. There’s a beautiful pool, hot tub, and sauna, and our massages with Camille were wonderfully relaxing. Abel’s dinners twice a week were outstanding. We loved the duck, cod, and risotto, and the white chocolate, pistachio, and raspberry dessert was divine. Breakfast in the main house was great too, with fresh pastries, local fruit, and plenty of choice.

We spent three nights at Malagorse, and the stay was a highlight of our holiday in the Dordogne Valley. The rooms upstairs in the main manor are unbelievably spacious and beautifully furnished. The pool, set on a broad grassy area beside the forest, is a lovely place to soak up the peaceful surroundings. We happened to arrive on one of the two nights each week when the hotelier cooks dinner. He kept the menu a surprise, but any doubts we had disappeared as soon as the starters came out. The whole meal was sublime, and I’ll leave the details for future guests. Breakfast was gorgeous too, especially the stewed fruit with muesli. The hotelier and his wife were so kind and attentive. We met two other groups on our first evening who had returned several times, and I can understand why. Absolutely magnificent.

We happened upon this place by chance and were enchanted straight away. Abel and Ana created a wonderful oasis amid beautiful nature 25 years ago, guided by a shared vision. They look after their mostly returning guests with real taste and empathy. Make sure to try one of the two dinners each week, Abel and Ana's cooking beats the restaurants around here. We’re already looking forward to coming back.

We’ve stayed here three times now, in different rooms, and it hasn’t lost any of its magic. Each room was beautifully designed and so comfortable. Anna & Abel are natural hosts, and the whole place feels like our dream destination. It’s great for families, too. The food and wine cellar are out of this world, and we’ll return whenever we can. 🩷

The food Able cooks is absolutely delicious, and drinks before dinner are a lovely chance to chat with the other guests. Anna and Abel are a wonderful couple, with incredible attention to detail. They’ve restored and finished the whole manoir with such care and taste that it feels like a stylish home away from home. It’s a beautiful place to stay. We loved our visit and only wished we could have stayed longer. It was great to meet Gussy the dog, too. We definitely hope to return.
