Hotel & Spa Vacances Bleues Le Splendid

There are plenty of shops nearby, and the hotel does have a sauna and gym. But the rooms feel very dated. The carpet was dirty, the curtains had seen better days, and the paintings on the walls seemed to belong to another era. Maybe this was once a 4* hotel, but it feels far from that today.

The room was cold and large, and although it was kind of clean, the balcony was pretty dirty. For a so-called 4 star hotel, there was no heater, no car park, and no spa included in the room price. When we tried to complain, the response was basically that nothing could be done. I regretted not booking a cheap Airbnb and visiting the spa separately. Guests pay almost the same price for spa access as visitors.

The restaurant deserves a special mention. The wine selection was excellent, and the dishes were truly unique and delicious. My respect to the chef. The hotel itself was one of the best I've stayed in France, with very friendly, accommodating staff and a spacious, sparkling clean room with an appealing design. The spa was perfect for unwinding at the end of the day, and breakfast matched the hotel's high quality.

The spa is the main draw here, especially if the room isn't your priority. It's an art deco hotel that's been renovated, though the rooms still aren't especially modern or fancy. For a 4 Star hotel the price is quite low, but the spa costs 16€/day, so it seems fair. Breakfast was good, with lots of choices, most of them local. Dinner was good too, just not amazing. It could use some improvements to reach 5 stars, but the price to quality ratio is good.
