La Closerie – SPA & Résidence Hôtel

The little outdoor garden was cute, and I enjoyed my stay. The room was clean and nice, and the hotel’s location was convenient. The breakfast buffet was decent, though it didn’t feel very covid-proof with most people touching the food with their hands. Spa access was included, which was nice, but the spa itself wasn’t breathtaking. There’s no 24/7 reception.

Our room had a balcony facing the street, and it was really noisy. The hotel is on one of the main central roads for cars. The staff were very friendly and helpful, though!

We spent loads of time in the spa. The facilities were great, with a good jacuzzi and warm pool, though it can be a bit noisy since it’s a family spa. The breakfast was tasty and good quality, especially the very fresh mini pain au chocolat et croissants. In our room, the bed was super comfortable, there was plenty of space, and the big bathtub was lovely. It was clean too. We had a cute balcony facing the garden, but no chairs to sit on, which was a shame. I’d definitely come back, highly recommended!

The pool was our main draw, along with the easy walk to the beach, exploring the region, and evenings in the sauna and pool. At 2m deep, it was great for teaching survival skills. We met other families and enjoyed calm, respectful evenings in the water. All six of us had a great time, and I was happy with everything overall. But the family-friendly atmosphere we’d seen on arrival and read about in reviews could change in an instant. We managed four out of six nights, which we can live with. For the first four nights, everything was fine. Then on Friday, a woman around 35 wearing sunglasses in the water saw us, got out, pointed and shouted something we couldn’t understand, and went straight to reception without even taking a towel. The receptionist reluctantly reminded us that children weren’t allowed in the pool after 18:00. It wasn’t 18:00 yet, so we stayed the rest of the time, with the woman watching us. Some others just left. On Saturday we had another good time, until the same woman, let’s call her "K", arrived and again went to reception without speaking to us. This time the hostess asked us to leave, so we did at 18:00. Maybe I don’t get out much, but this was my first encounter with someone like K outside of YouTube. Her scowl was something else, and we weren’t the only ones on the receiving end. Staff handled it well on Friday night, but Saturday could’ve gone much better. Maybe the hostess was having an off day.
