Château de la Guillonnière

We enjoyed staying here, and the room was lovely.

The outdoor pool was available, and everything was very clean. It was a peaceful spot with no outside disturbances or various kinds of pollution, especially from screens. We were welcomed so warmly. I'd happily come back.

The house itself is beautiful, with spacious grounds, a big room, and a quiet setting. But the stay was disappointing. We only found out when we arrived that breakfast wouldn't be served because of health rules. They made no effort to offer another option, even though that should have been easy given the location. Then the manager planned to charge us for the breakfasts we never received. The first-floor bathrooms also need attention: our tap leaked and there was a sewage smell. In four days, no towels were changed, toiletries weren't restocked, and the house wasn't cleaned. The above-ground pool stayed covered the whole time and wasn't well maintained. The management seemed more focused on making things comfortable for their large family than for guests. COVID felt like a convenient excuse.

First time, we booked two rooms for three people and had no hot water in the showers, plus a flooded bathroom. On the second stay we had five rooms for ten people, and there was no heating on November nights when it was 3°C. Outrageous. The staff were charming, but I was appalled by the incompetence. Avoid at all costs!
