La Villa Augustine

Our Leopoldine apartment had its own little garden with a table and chairs, tucked away from the main house, which made it a lovely place to spend a long weekend. The apartment was so carefully finished and decorated, well equipped with the essentials, and really cozy. Colin was great to deal with, and his place ended up being the highlight of our time in Dieppe. It’s a hidden gem and excellent value. We’d happily come back.

We stayed three nights in Albertine on the top floor. It was clean and practical, with everything we needed, a great shower, and a comfortable bed. There’s also a little shared outdoor spot for morning coffee, and the accommodation is beautifully decorated. Colin was very friendly and gave us lots of useful information. It’s an easy, flat walk to the ferry ports, about 30 minutes from the terminal, and only a short stroll to the historic centre. There’s a lovely bakery right nearby. Dieppe feels underrated, with nice walks, places to eat, and bakeries, and this is a relaxing place to stay. We’d come back if we’re in Dieppe again.

The host made this stay special. Nadir welcomed us like friends, cooked a delicious Moroccan dinner for our arrival, made lovely breakfasts, and helped arrange visits and transport. He and his team made sure we felt at home, always with a smile. Villa Augustine itself is a beautifully designed Tangier townhouse, full of elegant details, from local art and designer furniture to marble and other lovely materials. We’ve stayed in several nice hotels in Morocco, including El Fenn in Marrakech, and this was even better for us. We had a wonderful time and are already looking forward to returning. Merci, merci, Nadir, for making it unforgettable.

You can have a long weekend in Dieppe without a car, slowing down from the pace of Paris. I especially liked the walk to the rocky beach, about ten minutes away, with its striking cliffs, then a stroll along the boardwalk for ice cream before settling in at the villa for the evening. The seafood is so fresh, too. Villa Augustine has rooms that each feel different, with classic decor and architecture alongside modern touches like the showers and microwave. On arrival there’s a jar of apple caramel spread, a local specialty, plus a useful booklet with nearby activities, bakeries for croissants and baguettes, and restaurants. Dieppe is a hidden gem in Normandy, and this is a lovely place to stay when visiting.
